Some versions of the story represent Jack as the hero who destroys the evil giant, while other versions portray Jack as a mischievous boy who is constantly stealing items from the giants.Children look up to Jack as a brave hero and strive to be like him. Many different works of literature have been influenced by “Jack and the Beanstalk”. The Warner Bros adapted the fairy tale into three different cartoons and created a film called “Jack the Giant Slayer” released in March 2013. The cartoon “Tom and Jerry’s Giant Adventure” was based off of this fairy tale. In 1966 Hanna-Barbera won an Emmy Award for her live action version of “Jack and the Beanstalk”. “Jack and the Beanstalk” also influenced the movie “Into the Woods” which is a combination of various fairy tales. Gisaburo Sugii released a film in 1974 called “Jack to Mame no Ki”. They introduced some new characters like Jack’s dog named Crosby and a princess named Margaret engaged to the giant.
